30 Day Squat Challenge

Now that the hubs and I are fully committed to living a healthier lifestyle, I figured I could do a Mayathon for the month of May! Yep, it’s about to get as scary as it sounds!

Basically the plan is to exercise in some form or fashion every day for the entire month. There will be “rest” days but on those days I’ll at least go for a walk or do a few crunches or push-ups in order to meet the goal of working out daily. To make this a little easier on myself I might as well do some sort of challenge since it would give me something to work towards each day!

Presenting the…

3295 Squats
I discovered this challenge while perusing the Instagram feed of @cleaneatz
I can’t lie…I’m somewhat nervous about this.  I’m practically terrified of Day 9…and beyond!  I’m sure I’ll be feeling the burn by Day 3!  Nonetheless, I’m going to give it my best shot and I’d love it if you joined me in the “fun”!
I’ll be taking before pictures in order to do some comparisons at the end of the 30 days and if I take any pictures, send inspirational quotes or tweet throughout the challenge I’ll be using the hashtag #3295squats.  And yes, that’s the total number of squats that I will have completed at the end of this challenge…absolutely ridiculous :)!

The challenge begins this Wednesday!  I’ll let you know how my first few days have gone during my Monthly Measures link-up which occurs the first Monday of each month (May 6th)!  Be sure to join the link-up and follow me on Instagram (@pharraway) and Twitter (@pharr_away) to stay up to date on how I’m doing…and send me some encouraging words along the way!!!

OK, I'm in (eeeeep). I'm leaving for Europe in six weeks and I need to be in better shape to traipse around and see the sights. I like the idea of a daily challenge, though I might not feel the same way after … the first day!

Yes, Gwen, yes!!! We're going to get our gluteus maximus' into gear!!! I like daily challenges too since it takes the guessing out of my workout for the day. Keep a tab on how you're feeling as each day progresses so we can exchange stories. Let me know how you're doing by Monday!

Woahhh!!! That's a lotta squats. You're going to have killer Carrie Underwood legs by the end of all this!

Ashley, you know I had to Google "Carrie Underwood's legs" and yes, that's exactly what I'm striving for, fierce!!!

Cool beans, Tanya and thanks so much for the compliment! I'm so excited that you'll be joining in the "fun" and all we can do is give it our best effort! It's called a challenge for a reason :)! Be sure to let me know how you're coming along on Monday. I feel those first few days will set the bar for how this will go for us. Good luck and thanks so much for linking back tomorrow!!!

I am on Day 5 right now and I agree I am scared of the days to come!

Omg, Ashlee! How are your legs feeling?!? Are you breaking it up (a few in the morning, noon and night) or all at once! Do you feel like its really doable after having done it for a few days! I'm clearly nervous! I start TOMORROW!!! I'll be checking in with you often since you're ahead of me! We can do it!!!

    • May 1, 2013 / 12:03 am

I have been breaking it up into different sets. Today with the 70, I did a set of 25, did the dishes, then did a set of 25, then picked up some toys, then finished and did a set of 20.
I think it is doable. I am going to try to do it all at one time instead of breaking it up through out the day.

I *need* to be all over this! We just joined the YMCA but I want to do something on the days I don't go. This just may work. My legs will be burning…but having a toned butt and legs will feel fabulous.

    • May 2, 2013 / 1:40 am

I'm actually thinking about joining the YMCA soon too, Darcel. I know that just doing this alone isn't going to give me the best results so I'd like to go to the gym a few days a week as well. After doing the first 50 tonight I can tell it's going to be rough though. Keep me posted on how you're doing with this!!!
