Busy

Hi, Friends!

It’s been a while.  As much as I’ve wanted and truly desired to be back in this space, it’s been really hard to make time for this.  But, when you love something, it stays on your mind and you find your way back to it and make time for it if it’s something you truly care about.  So here I am, trying to commit to sharing here once more.

I’d like to think that I could crank out at least one post per week, but if I’m honest with myself that may still prove to be difficult at this stage of my life.  So let’s just take it one post at a time and see how often I show up here the next few weeks. Ok?!

Let’s talk about a few things that have taken over my life in this season:

Kindergarten

This being Madison’s first year in school has definitely changed the flow of things and shifted our focus.  Between homework, reading regularly and dance twice per week we are incredibly busy, and she’s just one child.  I can’t imagine how things will look when Morgan and her activities are added to the mix.  But, thankfully, that is years away.

Wellness

Since December of 2017, I’ve really stepped up my game when it comes to fitness.  I now work out regularly (3-5 times/week) and I finally enjoy and look forward to it to some degree. I never thought I’d feel that way about exercise, folks.  So this is a huge deal.  We continue to eat fairly healthy as a family, but now I’m working struggling to reduce my carbs; specifically pasta, bread, etc.  I’ve come so far but I still have a ways to go and likely won’t reach my ultimate goals until the end of the year.  I’m really trying to accept that; the fact that I believe it’ll take a full year to really see the results I want to see.  That’s crazy when I think about it. But I needed to just say it because I feel it’s accurate and realistic.

Promotion

When I was promoted in September 2017, I honestly didn’t feel like I was ready.  Thanks be to God for allowing others to see things in me that I can’t see in myself.  Plus, I will always and forever be my worst critic, believe that I have more growing to do before progressing to the next level and will likely always struggle to some degree with imposter syndrome.  But make no mistake, I’m all the adjectives you can think of to describe a manager’s favorite employee; resourceful, leader, proactive, problem-solver, critical thinker, adaptable, influencer, etc. So know that I do work really hard and that is coupled with God’s favor, so it’s not that I’m undeserving — I just tend to struggle with accepting it.

I said all that to say, that now that I’m at this level, I work (or think about work-related things) almost constantly.  I just want to stay on top of things, do a good job, and continuously improve. So this takes up a LOT of my time.

No New Friends
You can read all about my renewed relationships with my BFF’s here. I stay talking to one or all of them every. single. day.  Love those ladies!

I’m sure it’s no surprise to you all that I’m busy and my life is full right now.  It’s always so full thought, right? Just in different ways.

I can’t complain.
Life is good.

I hope in the midst of this season I can truly carve out just a little time to get back to this.  I miss this form of therapy so incredibly much.

Don’t Settle,

xoxo, Nicole

I really enjoyed reading your update! Congrats on the promotion. 🙂 Thank you for sharing about your struggles and God's grace and favor. I have a hard time accepting some of the blessings He presents to me. That's something I am working on currently.

I love how your spirit comes through your writing. You are an amazing woman, even if you don't know it…yet.
