Morgan Pharr | Age One

My sweet, baby-boo, as I often like to call you…you, my dear girl, turned one today!

Dear, Morgan-
This has been one of the best years of my life, and a whole lot of that has to do with welcoming you into it.  We had a rocky start, you and I, with some late, late nights the first three months due to colic.  Daddy was our saving grace during that time, walking you to and fro’ as you cried and cried with no consolation from midnight to 2 or 3 am each night.  At the time, it seemed like it would never end, but it did, and you’ve been such a good, deep sleeper every since.
You’ve mastered so many things already, it’s sometimes hard to believe that you’re only one.  From walking at 11 months, to clearly articulating words like “thank you”, using sign language to ask for things you want, and having the palate like that of an adult; willing to try (and devour) any meal that’s set before you — you have no idea how very thankful I am for that last one.
One of the things I so desperately wanted was to capture a photo of you and your cute, cute smile but you weren’t having it during this shoot. And, when I went back to look at the photos I took, I smiled, thinking ” this is so you, Morgan”.  You’re my serious baby, and not in a boring or sad type of way. You’re one of the happiest, most playful kids I know.  But, you’re not easily riled up and excited by things, and that’s one of the many things I love most about you.  Your “please miss me with the dramatics” attitude, is so me, and I’m so here for it.  I pray that you continue to follow your own path in that way.  To embrace the parts of yourself that may seem different or outside the norm from what others may expect from you or expect you to give of yourself.
I want you to know that you’ve been such a joy to raise, and you’ve made me happy in ways I can’t explain.  I’m so looking forward to the years ahead as your personality continues to blossom.  Continue to challenge us, continue to surprise us and continue to be the strong-willed child that you are.  I love all the bits and pieces of you, ladybug, and I always will.
Happy 1st Birthday, Morgan, my daughter, my treasure,
I love you to the moon and back!

xoxo, Nicole
