A few weeks ago my husband put down some grass seed, and he’s been watering it daily ever since. It’s like his new child. We can’t walk on it, sit on it, touch it, and I even try not to look at it. But recently, I actually did look at it. Like really looked at it. And what do you know? It’s growing! There is this pretty, fresh green to it too. Nice. Beautiful. Lush. Grass! How exciting!
On my way to work yesterday I got to thinking about that darn grass and how it’s easy to get into the mindset that perhaps the “grass is greener on the other side” of whatever (i.e., a divorce, a job, etc.). When in all actuality grass is the greenest where it is watered, tended to, cared for...I could go on. I can’t pretend that I didn’t already know this. We all know this. But oh how forgetful this flesh of ours is, right?!
Now that I’ve been reminded, yet again, it’s time to apply the lesson of the grass to my life with my husband and, I don’t know, water him or something…day after day :)!
