Verse Mapping

Have you ever heard of verse mapping?!? I had not until yesterday when I read through the first post in an online bible study I’m participating in with Proverbs 31 Ministries.  To get a full understanding of what verse mapping is read {this post}!  Essentially, it’s a way for you to break down scripture in an effort to help you memorize God’s Word.  I’m still trying to figure out why I wasn’t introduced to this before!

Our scripture for the week is Psalm 84:2
“My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” (NKJV)
Here is a look at how I thought about this scripture through verse mapping:
Neat, right?!?
I actually bought some spiral bound index cards for this bible study and did this verse mapping on one so that I could carry my verses around with me to study each week.  As I meditate on each verse each day during the week I’ll probably think of more things to add to the index card and by the end of the week I’m certain that I’ll have the verse stored in my heart whenever I need it for battle!
This is an incredibly useful tool and I definitely plan to use it long after this six week bible study is over.  It’s only been a day since this online bible study began and I already feel like I’ve gained SO, so much!
What tools do you use to help you memorize His Word?!?

    This is a great map!
    For me, making songs to verses helps a lot. And actually, for this particular verse, I toured with a singer named Matt Gilman and this is the first verse of a song I sang background for! You should check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pXkn7NHR2g

    I've actually done this before, and it's so incredible what you get out of a verse when you do. I've been following your tweets and Instagrams about your fast…you're so strong!! (and you can do it!) I would've caved about…..3 hours in.

    I appreciate you posting this. I had never heard of verse mapping until I saw this pinned on Pinterest last night. I have been looking for a way to get more from my time in the Word. I was looking at induction bible study and could see what was being done but not really understanding the "rules" of it. This here, verse mapping, is beautiful, I love it 🙂 God's Word is so very beautiful to me, so alive and life giving, I appreciate learning about this to be able to take it deeper… just, thank you for this 🙂
