From Google Reader to Bloglovin'

Come July 1st Google will be getting rid of Google Reader. If you haven't heard yet then you're probably living under a rock....I kid, I kid, they literally just announced it tonight and it's spread like wildfire throughout the blogosphere! I bet there are posts going up everywhere in an attempt to capitalize on this trivial occurrence, hence this post...well, actually I didn't have a post scheduled for today so I figured this was as good a subject as any :)!

But let's not panic folks (you should see my Twitter feed)!

There are a ridiculous amount of ways to keep up with your favorite bloggers nowadays, so let's all calm down, shall we.

As a result of this change most people will be making their way to Bloglovin' (membership fees coming soon, I bet...another joke!).  You should probably ensure that your readers begin following via a different method as well. If they are getting rid of Google Reader it's probably only a matter of time before they git rid of GFC (Google Friend Connect) but there is no way of telling.  Please note that the two are NOT the same!

  1. I've seen that announcement...why in the heck would they do that?! Google Reader is my favorite!

    1. Yeah, that's one of the major concerns for people about being on Blogger vs. Worpress...Google exercises it's right to make changes and they do so often. Whereas with Wordpress changes that occur are usually on the back end so it doesn't affect the look of your blog or the tools your using. Stuff like this makes me want to switch over sometimes, but you can't beat the ease of use associated with Blogger!!!

  2. Hi! I am your new followe via the Thumping Thursday Blog Hop. Lovely blog you have. :)

  3. I've been wondering what will happen to GFC. So many questions!

  4. Hello. I saw you at the Linkin' with the Ladies and I am your newest follower in GFC from I look forward to seeing you over at my blog next :)

  5. Not sure about Google anymore. GFC was not available for blogs anyway so I had to use other alternatives, like Google Plus. We'll see. Thanks for the post.
