Madison’s 1ST Birthday!

My absolute favorite thing about the month of February will always be the birth(day) of my sweetest little girl in the whole wide world, Maddie!

On Tuesday we celebrated her very first birthday and I learned that no matter how big or small your plans are for that very first birthday you’re probably going to stress-out about it regardless!

But by the end of the day it hit me…Madison could care less about all my planning (or lack thereof). She knew something was going on and she was excited from the moment she saw that the floor was filled with balloons when she woke up that morning.  We had laughed and giggled and played throughout the day and all that really mattered was that she was happy and she had fun!

Here are a few pics that I managed to capture of the birthday girl on her special day…

Waking up to her room filled with balloons.
Her favorite breakfast, pancakes and eggs, with chocolate chips added to make it extra special!

The discovery of the giggling doll that made her giggle every time it giggled!
The Giant Birthday Cupcake (made by yours truly)!
1. Maddie, you don’t want to try the cake? 2. Um, not really.  3. I don’t want it!
So I sit her back down beside the cake…
4. Um, no! 5. I really don’t want it! 6. I’m out of here!
Well, let’s stick your hand in it…
7. She wipes it on herself.  8. Still trying to get rid of it.  9. She walks away….
to the couch, to wipe it off completely!
Fine, it’s your day…let’s have fun!!!

Awwwwwww, she is sooooo cute! You are a great mom 🙂

My mom always put a little coffee-table inmy room, packed with candy and gifts. It was always so exciting to wake up on my birthday!!

I thought so too!!! Crazy thing is that my husband bought it and when he first brought the outfit home, I thought really?!? But ended up loving the skirt (and thought about taking the shirt and shoes back, lol)!!! I decided to put the shirt and shoes he bought to use some other time but the skirt went perfectly with this outfit!!! Thanks so much for the compliments to my precious little girl!

happy birthday to your little girl! I haven't done that balloon thing but would love to try it one day with my littles. Coming over from dancing with ashley : )

    • March 5, 2013 / 5:52 am

Thanks, Colleen! You should definitely give the balloon idea a try as the littles will LOVE it! My husband always goes to kiss the girl in the morning before heading our for work and he usually has to bring her to our room b/c he wakes her. That morning she saw the balloons still half asleep and he said she tried to get out of his arms to get to them!!!

Once she and I were both up for the day and I took her back to the room she was thrilled and probably could have played with those balloons all day!!!

So glad you stopped by and thanks for taking the time to comment!

Thanks so much, Rachel! I had the skirt for quite some time and found the shirt last minute at Target (got to love that place)! I was so stressed about the day and when I went back through all the photos I realized that she did indeed have a great day! So glad you stopped by, heading your way now :)!!!

So adorable she wanted nothing to do with her cake! That's a great memory!

It truly is a great memory, Martha! I will never let her live this down, lol!!!

What a perfect birthday for a perfect little girl. You're right..they could care less about all the 'stuff', but it is really cute when they *know* that the day is special.

    • March 5, 2013 / 6:14 am

Somehow I knew that she wouldn't really care about all the stuff which is why I told myself not to get too carried away for this very first birthday, yet I did and I got stressed out about it just to go through these photos and realize that she "knew" what was going on, like you said, and more importantly she enjoyed herself!!!

I love the balloons filling the room! I am going to do this for my girls even though they're teens. I think anyone would love it! Great idea!

  13. March 1, 2013 / 11:32 am

Happy Birthday Madison. Great pictures! It looks like a very fun party, with the pink balloons, and the beautiful pink cake.

She must have had an absolute blast.

    • March 5, 2013 / 6:31 am

Thanks, Lisa!!! You'd think we had a bunch a people over but we decided to keep it simple with just the three of us! And I laugh about the cake because I made it and ruined the icing the night before and had to scrap it off that morning to redo it!

  14. March 1, 2013 / 3:04 pm

So stinkin' adorable! Love the tutu!

  15. March 1, 2013 / 8:19 pm

Nicole, you did a great job. Filling her room with balloons was a great idea. Happy Birthday Madison!

    • March 5, 2013 / 6:33 am

Thanks so much, Emily! I did not feel that way in the moment and didn't realize how well things turned out for her until I went back through the photos! The pressures we put on ourselves! Thanks for the bday wishes for my little lady!!! I hope all is well with you!

Awesome! I'd like this for my birthday ;)! Can't believe she's 1 & she look so grown up walking! Great job with her celebration festivities!

    • March 5, 2013 / 6:35 am

Ha! I can't believe she's 1 either! They say it goes by quickly and you get it but you don't really get it until their one and walking and looking all grown up, like you said, and then you wonder…where did the time go!!!

  17. March 8, 2013 / 2:38 am

HA! I love the pictures!! I'm sure she'll love all the work you put into it once she's older and can look back on it!
