Madison Lynn – From Pregnancy to Birth {Part 2}

Be sure to read {Part 1} if you haven’t already; otherwise you may be caught off guard by the first sentence!

To continue where we left off..

Then came the first week of July and I woke up one morning and thought, “gosh my nipples are SO tender, I’m probably pregnant!” I said this to myself, jokingly, mind you! Then I thought about it…when was the last time you saw “aunt flow”, Nicole?!? I couldn’t remember! O-M-G, I might really be pregnant! Calm down, Nicole, take a test first before you get your panties in a bunch, sheesh!

So I whipped out a test…what girl doesn’t keep pregnancy tests in her bathroom cabinets like medicine, right (insert sarcasm)?!? The test came back positive and I just knew. No need to waste another one, those things are expensive!  Thinking back to the past month or two, everything made sense. All the sleeping, the fatigue, the tenderness, the bladder issues, the mood!

Then, all of a sudden. I was scared out of my mind! I’m not ready. We’re not ready. This wasn’t planned. What will people think?!? Go {here} to read a little bit more about how we went about following our hearts in regards to this “unplanned” pregnancy! I say unplanned in quotes because He knew…

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you… (Jeremiah 1:5, NIV)

Now that you’re back from reading the other post let’s talk about August 19, 2011!

 I made us take a photo  that day so I could make an album later…who knew I’d eventually start a blog to share it all!

This day will forever be ingrained in my memory. This is the day that all of the fears, concerns, worries about becoming a new mom became a distant memory.  This is the day that we heard Madison’s heartbeat for the very first time. I cried at the sound. So beautiful! A life we created, growing inside of me. That sound changed me, forever!!!

Next up, finding out the sex. I already knew we were having a girl. It’s what I wanted. What I prayed for and I just felt it!

Crappy photo, I know, but it’s the only one I have from that day!

You can see the joy on our faces, right?!? We took this photo as soon as we got in the car right after finding out we were having a GIRL!!!

So what to name her? I already had her middle name set as Marie, but what about the first?!? Olivia? Elizabeth? Chloe? Zoe? Mario was not feeling any of my choices but was coming up with nothing himself. Great!

Then one day, out of the blue, one of my best friend’s / Maddie’s godmother, Dorothy (middle name Marie) goes, “you should name her Madison.” “OMG, that’s perfect!” I told Mario and he thought so too. And just like that we had a name! THANKS DOROTHY!!!

Soon after, we decided to change her middle name to Lynn. It just fit, and it flowed perfectly.  One of the last things I was able to share with my mom was that we were having a girl and that her name would be Madison Lynn. It was my mother’s middle name too and it was our way of honoring her!
