Letter’s to my Former Self – Wk #2

Questions {Week 2}:

What did you think about dating and marriage the year before you met “the one?”
College Days – “Single & Ready to Mingle”

Dear miss young, wild and out of control, Nicole…
Before you meet “the one” you’ll make some rash decisions about dating in an attempt to protect your heart.  You’ll decide that you’ll never love deeply again.  You’ll try to act like all the men that hurt you and not share your feelings and not care if you hurt someone,  Dating will seem like a game in which you have all of the control.
You’ll decide that marriage probably isn’t your thing.  To you, marriage probably won’t last so there is no point in thinking about it.  To you, marriage is a trap.  To you, no one person could be trusted enough to deal with for life.
It doesn’t seem safe.
It doesn’t even seem logical.
It’s downright scary.
All you can think about is how would you recover if you were betrayed during marriage.  So no, it isn’t for you and if there is a possibility for it then not before the age of 35.
Yes, definitely not before then!!!
Foolish girl!
Becoming “One” – 06/02/12

Although you’ve vowed to never open your heart to someone ever again, in a year you will meet “the one” and all it will take to win you over is his smile (true story)!

In a year, you’re going to meet your very best friend, someone who will be that best friend for life! He’s pretty AH-mazing, that guy…he really is!!!

Note that he’s human and he’ll make some mistakes throughout your courtship (and so will you), but he’ll learn from them and love you like you’ve never been loved before!
It’ll take several years for him to tear down the walls you’ve built. Several years for him to get you to be open and honest and share your feelings. Several years for you to trust him completely.

Then finally, after six, yes six, years of dating you’ll finally feel secure and ready to say yes to marriage…after he’s asked for the second time!

You’ll be 26!

Sincerely,
Your happily married self!
