Buying a new home...it's just madness!

My fiance (Mario) and I are in the process of purchasing our first home (yay!).  We are currently renting a house, which I adore, but we do not intend to continue to live here once our lease ends for a few reasons:

-We just had a beautiful baby girl (Photo 1) and need more space (3 bedrooms at least).

-We don't really like our current neighborhood and definitely wouldn't want to raise a family there.  I'm all about sidewalks, nearby playgrounds, community events, and neighbors I can borrow a cup of sugar from (call me old fashioned or unrealistic, perhaps).
-We'd like to own a home now that we've started a family so that we can have a stable environment to raise our children and truly make it our own.

Now...who knew searching and buying a home would be such a gruesome process :(.  I suppose it is known by the many who have purchased homes before us; however, we were unpleasantly surprised to see all that goes into the biggest purchase of our lives.  So after countless viewings, and an offer which fell through ;(, we finally settled on a "cute little" (Sidenote 1, below) home in Raleigh, NC in a nice community near a park, lakes, mini playground, etc, etc...

My dream, right?!? Sort of, considering that we are still in the process, which means home inspection, termite inspection, appraisal, repairs and the list goes on and ON.  There is so much to do that we didn't even realize needed to be done and because of the due diligence period there isn't a whole lot of time to do it, *sigh*!  But I suppose this is the case with so many new things in life.  You don't realize how much goes into something until you're faced with it.  Like raising a child, for instance, but that's another post entirely :)!

Lastly, I'd like to point out that our soon to be new home isn't all that I imagined my first home would be either.  There are no granite countertops, matching appliances, to-die-for master suite, you know, all the things you see and drool over on HGTV.  I'm not even sure if our furniture will fit in the living room, ha!  But I will say it has great "bones" and is pretty awesome for our first home as 20-something year old's considering all we've been through and what it's taken to get here and I have every intention of demolishing, remodeling and decorating every square footage of this home until it's all that I (I mean we) desire it to be.  As soon as we close, I'll post photos of the new place, inside and out, so I hope you stay tuned as we start our new lives in our new home with our new baby girl!

Let the EXTREME LIFE MAKEOVER begin!!!

xoxo,

Sidenote 1:  Don't you hate when people refer to something of yours in this manner...cute little house, cute little car, etc...I mean really, what are they trying to say?!?
